Great success at Brighton 2024 - Lib Dems Conference

You are the local champion Standing with Hong Kong

Thank you for your continuous support in making our time at Brighton Lib Dems conference an absolute success.

We have a flood of Lib Dem parliamentarians coming to our booth to show support for Human Rights and Civil Liberties, especially as liberal democracies join hands to fight against challenging regimes.

Clive Jones MP, our new spokesperson for trade joined us with our first HKBN(O) Councillor. The theme of our exhibition featured was Free Trade with Fair Trade.

We’re delighted Ben Maguire MP, shadow Attorney General, joins us. Ben is advocating to free HK activists & politicians facing political repression & imprisonment.

Our chair had a detailed discussion with the diplomatic representative from Taiwan on how we can support Taiwan in trade and regional stability.

Larry researched on UN resolution 2758. It included China's propaganda and misinterpretation of the 'One China' policy and its act on changing UN documents as a barrier to Taiwan having even a quasi-relationship with the United Nations.

We need to defend Taiwan’s liberal democracy interest on the world stage. It’s also as much our democratic interest for regional democracy and stability.

Moving on, MPs have agreed to work with us to submit questions and motions in Parliament and we have agreed a clear strategy. The engagement at Brighton’s Conference will be put to good use for the growth of liberal democracy.
